Cupertino (CA) ? Apple today made iTunes 8.2 available via the software?s auto-update feature as well as a regular download. At first sight, there isn?t much new in this update, and the rumored Blu-ray support is still absent. But iTunes software supports the iPhone 3.0 software, which we expect to be rolled out next week.
Are you in iPhone Gen 3 mood yet? We will have to wait another week to find out how the next iPhone will look like and what it will be able to do. But just in case you can?t sit still anymore, you can always download the latest iTunes version. iTunes 8.2, comes as an 85 MB package and includes support for iPhone OS 3.0, Apple said.
iPhone OS 3.0 is expected to debut on June 8 at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco.
Other than the support for the new iPhone software, which is expected to give developers much greater access to the smartphones feature set, there isn?t much new in iTunes 8.2. Apple said that it has enhances bounds checking to prevent a stack buffer overflow problem that could lead to software crashes or arbitrary code execution. Apple added that 8.2 also includes ?many accessibility improvements?, but did not provide a more detailed description.
What we know, however, is that Blu-ray support and features for Mac OS X 10.5.7, which were expected to arrive with this update, are not included.
